How we collect information about you and the type of information collected
We collect information from you by e-mail, telephone, fax, letter, or via our web-site and also directly, where practical, by meeting with you. The information collected includes details such as; name, address, contact details, education & training, employment history, achievements, details of referees, your desired work requirements, competency test results and other information that will assist in the provision of our services. We may also collect sensitive information about you that relates to your health, any conditions (including disabilities) that may affect your work performance, and details about any criminal record that you may have.
Any offer of employment and on-going employment will be subject to completion and return of results acceptable to our client (employer) of any probity checking that may be requested by our client. Prior to conducting any probity checking that may be required, you will be advised of the specific probity checks to be conducted and also asked to consent to these checks being done.
Should you attend an interview with one of our consultants, the information that you provide to us will be reviewed by the consultant and further details will be collected from our interview process. We may also collect information from third parties such as; your nominated referees, or from the results of psychometric or other competency testing.
If you do not provide us with complete and accurate information, we may be limited in our ability to provide you with the best possible service.
Purposes for holding, using and disclosing your personal information
Where you have indicated to us that you wish to be considered for positions generally or within certain specific parameters, your consent to disclose your information for that purpose will be taken as given. The information we collect may be used for any one or more of the following purposes:
To assess your suitability for a role. The information collected will form the basis of your details, which may be forwarded to prospective employers. These details may be retained for future reference by potential employers who are also required to comply with privacy legislation; For an assessment of your suitability for a position that may become available in the future;
To assist you in retaining a position with an employer;
To assist you in improving your performance in a position with an employer;
Producing salary surveys, labour market reports, research and analysis. In this case your individual details will not be disclosed, but aggregated with other information for the purpose of producing a report;
To assist in the provision of our services to our clients and prospective employers;
To alert you of any new services or job opportunities.
Your information that we collect may be disclosed to any one or more of the following parties:
Prospective employers;
Our clients who may wish to engage your services on a Temporary or Contract basis;
Organisations that conduct psychometric or competency testing;
An insurer or workers compensation body; Your nominated referees;
Our suppliers or contractors who provide services to QPL. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that these third party suppliers or contractors do not use your personal information for anything other that the agreed purposes;QPL related entities;
To government and other bodies (such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics), and as required by law;
To the Federal Police if it may be necessary for us to do a criminal record check. In this case your consent will be obtained prior to doing the criminal record check.
Once you advise us that you are no longer seeking work, we will archive your details and take all reasonable steps to ensure that your information is no longer sent to potential employers.
Information security and integrity
We hold your information in a combination of electronic storage facilities and paper-based files and other records. QPL has technological and operational security procedures in place to protect your information from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. Only authorized QPL staff, contractors or suppliers have access to the information that you provide and they have agreed to maintain the confidentiality of such information.
Information about our website visitors
In general, we gather statistics about all of our Website users collectively, such as what areas users visit most frequently and what services users access the most. We only use such statistics anonymously and in the aggregate. These statistics help us determine what is most beneficial for our Website users, and how we can continually improve our services.
Updating your information
After being interviewed by a QPL Consultant, you can make any subsequent changes or update your personal information or employment history by making an appointment to visit any of our offices. Requests to provide you with personal information we hold about you will be accepted by making a written application for access to our National Manager. We will respond to such requests as quickly as possible and generally within 14 days after the request has been made. QPL may seek payment for our costs prior to supplying you with the information that you have requested.
