Contracting or Temping with QPL

QPL are committed to ensuring that your experience whilst temping is a rewarding one. For whatever reason you are temping, whether you are between permanent jobs, travelling, returning to work or attempting a career change we are here to help.

Your recruitment consultant will advise you and take you through all the start up paperwork when you get your first assignment, this will include collecting your Tax File Number, signing a contract and setting up your bank details in order to pay you.

As a contractor you will need to submit a timesheet for every week that you work, you will get a blank one before you start. Either photocopy it or print one from the website (see link below) for subsequent weeks. Timesheets must be signed and returned by 6pm Friday for payment Wednesday morning.

If you have any questions regarding payment, group certificates, tax deductions, visa’s timesheets, OHS, superannuation or host companies then see our FAQ’s below or speak to your consultant.

Many of our contractors have been in their placement for several years and many more have secured permanent positions from the assignment. We hope you find your QPL contracting experience an enjoyable one.

FAQ’s

When will my Group Certificate be sent to me?

Group Certificates will be issued in July – please advise us if you have moved address in the previous 12 months.

I have not received my Group Certificate?

We will have sent your Group Certificate to the last address that we have for you. If you have moved since registering please advise your consultant.

When will I get paid for my assignment?

Salary payments will be made  direct to your bank account on Wednesday if timesheet is received by Friday the week prior at 6pm.

Please Note: Late submission of timesheet may delay payment of wages.

I am paying too much tax?

We are deducting tax as per your instructions on the TFN declaration; if you need to complete a new one please speak to your consultant. We are not able to advise you which box to tick.

I have had an accident at work?

QPL holds your workers’ compensation insurance for the time you are working on a clients site. If you are injured in the workplace you are required to notify your manager / supervisor and contact your recruitment consultant within 24 hours. Your consultant will advise you of any further action required.

I am working in an unsafe environment?

You will have been given an OHS site survey to complete when you started your assignment, this must be completed on your first day. If you are later asked to work in an unsafe environment you must notify QPL immediately so that we can take steps to rectify the situation. Failure to complete the site survey can delay payment of wages.

Does QPL offer Super Choice?

Under the new ‘Super Choice’ legislation QPL offer all contractors the opportunity to nominate which super fund they choose to pay into. You may choose a new fund once every 12 months. Please ask your consultant for more details.

How do I change my bank details?

Contact your consultant at QPL so we can email you a ‘change of bank details’ form for you to complete and return back to us as soon as possible. We are not able to do this over the phone, as we will need your signature to action this.
